Thailandsy

What do you like about working at sync.?
Product and people. Our product is seriously cool – designs, features, and the way we think about how to tackle lengthy and manual processes in the financial services industry. I am honoured to be a part of this 🙂
What is your team like?
Like others said, we are family. We listen to each other’s opinions and are always up for taking challenges together.
How would you define the sync. work culture in 3 words?
Progressive, Innovative and Collaborative
In one sentence, could you describe what “compliance” is?
Something that protects business and enables its growth, not a blocker.
What do you like most about your role?
It is so hard to describe what a compliance team does in a short sentence because there are so many; regulatory compliance, operational compliance, financial crime investigation etc. And that’s exactly what I like about my role. I can deeply get involved with a company’s business and keep learning & growing. There is never a dull moment.
What is the hardest part of your job? What is the part you enjoy the most?
In our industry, regulatory changes are often made. Staying up-to-date with the latest regulations is definitely something I put lots of effort into. And I really enjoy seeing things working smoothly after interpreting them, making it sound as simple as possible by updating our policy / procedure and collaborating with other departments.
What is your favourite sync feature?
Multi-currencies. I spend JPY regularly for subscriptions such as Amazon.jp or for expenses when I travel back home in Japan. I used to send GBP to my Japanese bank account via bank transfer paying expensive fees, but now I can exchange GBP to JPY literally in a second in the app for much cheaper and can spend that via my sync. card super easily no matter where I am!
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start a career in Compliance?
Hahah you will see it is actually more colourful and exciting than it seems! It’s easy just to follow procedures, but always try to think how you can play differently. You will get to talk to different stakeholders and learn so many things.
